Common @ the White House (Video)

Common does not write rap, he's not a rapper. He is an MC, he writes poetry in motion. I think it is ridiculous that politicians are calling Common a thug and that he should not speak at the White House. When did Common become a thug? Last time I checked, Common helped redefine conscious rap and help create meaningful lyrics. These politicians think that since Common wrote one song about killing cops this would make him a "terrorist." I think there are bigger things to worry about then discussing if Common should be allowed in the White House. What about Ice-T? He is known for talking about killing cops in every song, but for some reason it's alright for him to play a cop on a television show. Or what about all the other wack rappers out there? Politicians have no background in rap or hip hop culture, which means they have no room to speak about what is right and wrong when analyzing lyrics or songs. At the end of the day it's called art. I am tired of these double standards...
